The Water Buffalo Tailgating Club was established in 2006 and quickly transitioned from a group interested in having a good time to a group wanting to have a good time but also help those in our community who are in need.
We volunteer at Gillette Stadium through their charity concession program. We serve food to patrons at concerts, Patriots and Revelation Games as well as other special events at the RAZOR. After these events we host tailgate parties at these parties we suggest a donation of ten dollars per person. These parties are in part underwritten by our business partners which allow the club to give the net proceeds to various charities of causes, through our TAILGATING FOR A CAUSE INITIATIVE.
Another way we strive to accomplish our goal is through our GIVE WITHOUT EXPECTATION PROGRAM. This program allows us to funnel funds raised outside of our tailgating events to charity. Events such as multi group yard sales- at these events we generally solicit the participation of other smaller charitable organizations. Our ongoing can/bottle drive is another drive which fall under the GWEP.
We select and donate funds, supplies and time to various organizations. Over the years we have contributed to such groups as The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute Parents Of Premier, INC and the Hasbro Children's Hospital's Pediatric Cardiology Department. These donation go to purchase tangible items which will stay long after their involvement with our club. Through the WBTC's unique charitable giving programs we have the flexibility to help when needed and then move on to help other groups.
Based on the serious economic downturn we are experiencing in the US we will be adapting our programs in 2010 to really focus on smaller groups which have fallen "under the radar" of traditional giving organizations. Thus these smaller groups have more difficulty funding their initiatives. Being a small group helping small groups we hope our dollars will make more of an impact.
